my name is jen dubis and i recently graduated from the university of hartford- with a bfa in illustration.
formulating concepts is an aspect of art i find both challenging and rewarding. i love visually communicating ideas. as you can see in my work, i enjoy experimenting with color and composing striking imagery.
my primary medium is oils, though i also enjoy watercolors and ink wash. i feel i am dedicated and extremely self-motivated in everything i do. with each task i undertake, i give one hundred and ten percent! i will do whatever i can to stay immersed in creativity. i have completed projects such as refinishing domestic fixtures and painting commissioned pieces for clients' homes.
this past 2002 summer season was my 3rd working at a camp doing arts and crafts programs with kids. it has been a wonderful experience and helped me to be continually inspired in my own work.
one of my pieces titled ' a piercing puncture' was displayed at the alexander a. goldfarb student awards exhibition at the hartford art school joseloff gallery in 2001.
two pieces you can view on my black&white examples page are featured in the 2001 and 2002 aerie creative writing booklets circulated at the university of hartford. in addition, you can view one of my watercolor pieces in the 2002 hartford art school catalogue.
in addition, a piece i did was selected as a finalist for the university of hartford 2003 summerterm catalogue and was featured on the back cover.
may 2003- my piece entitled 'backwards beauty' was selected by the new york society of illustrators student competition. it was one of 108 pieces chosen from 4,500 submissions nationwide. after the exhibition in new york city, it will travel down to philadelhia in june 2003.
